The judge of the 2011 Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize was esteemed Australian photographer and writer Robert McFarlane.
Jack Atley has been awarded first prize of $100,000 in the Open Section of the Moran Contemporary Photographic Prize, for his work titled World Rare Disease Day – Steve Waugh and Sarah Walker.
The winning works can be

This winning photo was for such a good cause etc etc but the actual photograph itself can hardly be worthy of $100,000. Ately was handed a gift...
There were so many better images depicting portraiture with skill rather than in the right place at the right time... I might be tempted to throw in a couple of snap shots of a famous celebrity next year.

I thought it was an absolutely beautiful piece of work and did well to win!
It all depends o what the judge is looking for I guess!?!
Well done and good job to all the entrants!

Competitions full stop are biased and flawed.
Dont waste your time entering. Many competitions now just hunt for images that they can sell.

I love this whole competion and think that each entry is unique and individual.
All the photos that won are brilliant and if the people who can't take losing to a better photo well then they should not enter it'd dthat simple!
well good phots anyway can't wait to se the finalist of 2012
